Local Liberal Democrat Simon Doyle is to fight the Regency by-election for the party.

Simon is a well known community activist, standing in the May elections in Central Hove ward. He works as a horticulturist and has previous experience as a Councillor.

A keen environmentalist, Simon has been a high profile campaigner against the proposed incinerator.

The Liberal Democrats held one seat in the ward until May and will be campaigning on issues including the much promised restoration of the seafront bandstand, parking and communal bins.

Simon said: 'I am delighted to fight the ward for the Liberal Democrats. Even though it is so soon after May's local elections, we are though ready for action.'
