Street Drinking Ban on its Way

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 22nd Jul 2003

A ban to stop street drinking in areas such as Norfolk Square, Western Road and Cambridge Road is set to be introduced by early August. The ban follows a long campaign by Liberal Democrat councillors to deal with street drinking and anti social behaviour issues in the city centre wards.

Regency Lib Dem Councillor Dawn Davidson said:

"This is the first step in clearing up areas such as Norfolk Square. The council has long ignored problems in this part of Regency and at last action is being taken."
