Labour have lost overall control of Brighton Council, with the Liberal Democrats picking up their first seat outside Hove. Dawn Davidson was elected in the central ward of Regency, with Kevin Donnelly missing out by just 5 votes. Brunswick and Adelaide ward saw Paul Elgood and David Watkins elected for the Lib Dems, but there was disappointment as Jenny Barnard-Langston and Mark Barnard missed out in Central Hove. The Lib Dem team across Brighton thanked all those who had voted for them, with the Party seeing much higher support across the City than in past years. The final composition of the council is: Labour - 24, Conservatives - 20, Greens - 6, Liberal Democrats - 3, Independent - 1.
